Open Studios…Preview

Evening Pike blog

This is a view of Stoodley Pike from Heptonstall. I took a photograph of it one summer evening last year. I loved the view so much I painted it. The original is sold but I have a giclée print of it available at Open Studios. The colours are lovely and rich (I had it printed locally at Knights Graphics) and I am really pleased with how close it is to the original.

I hope you can come and visit the Open Studios this weekend. I look forward to meeting you!

Under the Same Sky;Meadow Grasses with Dusk Drawing in

Today is the day! My private view is today at Heart Gallery  I hope to see you there!

This is my last painting in my countdown to the exhibition. Here is a little bit of info about it:

This is a painting inspired by an evening picnic. It was my friend’s birthday and we went to the meadows above Nutclough woods. We chatted, laughed and ate as the light faded and cloaked the hills in indigos. The bright colours of the flowers still around us.This is my memory of it.

Under the Same Sky;Dean Clough Mills

I have visited the gallery at Dean Clough since I was a teenager. It was a haven for me; to look at art and be in a creative space. I remember a book arts exhibition there which left a really strong impression on me and lead me to study illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. To this day stories and producing art that works as a collection or a sequence (as a book does) is still fundamental to me.
